Environmental Officer (Posted 25 February 2019) - 1 Position
Full time posting to Project site located in Cameron Highlands for a duration of 12 months contract period beginning mid-March to early April 2019.
Liaise with the Department of Environment (DOE) on Project matters.
Day-to-day inspection and monitoring of the Project site to ensure that all activities undertaken are in compliance with the EIA Approval Conditions and EMP conditions set by DOE.
Give briefings regularly to all the site personnel on the requirements, procedures and the implementation of the EMP.
Carry out site inspection of best management practices and update maintenance logs on a regular basis and/or after rain events.
Co-ordinate induction training on environmental aspects to all levels of workers with regards to worksite activities that will affect the environment and the mitigation measures to reduce the impacts when they are performing their duties at the site.
Regular briefings to update the contractor, Project Manager and Site Owner on the implementation status and effectiveness of the environmental mitigation measures.
Keeping an up-to-date environmental log with written documentation of all environmental measures on the effectiveness observed through monitoring activities.
Regular monthly meetings with the Environmental Monitoring Team (EMT) and the Environmental Consultants on reporting and auditing.
Check all environmental reports submitted by the EMT prior to submitting the reports to DOE.
Maintain all documents related to environmental management in an orderly manner.
Form part of the Emergency Response Team in coordinating activities during emergencies.
Minimum SPM qualifications but basic degree (environmental sciences, technology or engineering) will be a plus.
Basic knowledge on environmental laws and requirements and their application to construction site.
Possess CIDB card.
Must be a Certified Erosion, Sedimentation and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) or Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) competent person.
Minimum 1 years' experience supervising a construction/ project site as environmental officer.
Must be analytical, responsible, committed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good communication skills (English and Bahasa Malaysia).
Possess a valid driving license and own transport.
Willing to be stationed at Project site for duration of Project.
